Custom Nanobody Production
A nanobody or VHH is a single-domain antibody fragment derived from the unique heavy-chain-only antibodies found
in camelids. Nanobodies retain the binding specificity of conventional antibodies but offer several advantages,
including smaller size, stronger tissue penetration, weak immunogenicity in humans, high stability, and ability
to bind to challenging targets, etc. They are used in research, diagnostics, and therapeutic applications,
particularly in targeting diseases like cancer, inflammatory conditions, and infectious diseases. In addition,
sortase A nanobody labeling allows selectively attaching any tag including biotin, other proteins, fluorophores,
DNA, chelators, etc. Thus, labeled nanobodies are perfect for fluorescent visualization, cell staining for
microscope imaging, and visualization in functional assays.
Nanobody development is a complex process involving multiple stages, including immunization of animals with
selected antigens, mRNA extraction from purified peripheral white blood cells, generation of phage display
library, phage clones selection and expansion, purification, and characterization of nanobodies, etc.
