AZD5462 is a potential treatment for heart failure. It is a small molecule mimic of the relaxin H2 signal on RXFP1, which is effective in animal models. In studies in cynomolgus monkeys, a sustained improvement in cardiac function was observed. AZD5462 was shown to be safe and well tolerated in Phase I clinical trials in healthy volunteers.
