Today with this post we are starting a new information week! This time it will be dedicated to GPCRs - targets for about 35% of approved drugs.
In 2019, a group of scientists published a review called ‘GPCRomics: An Approach to Discover GPCR Drug Targets’. GPCRomics can help identify a role for individual and groups of GPCRs in health and disease and reveal ‘new’ GPCRs as drug targets, thus providing a basis for drug discovery efforts or repurposing of approved drugs.
This review covers insights from GPCRomic approaches, gaps in knowledge, and future directions by which GPCRomics can advance GPCR biology and the discovery of new GPCR-targeted drugs.
Besides that, the authors provide a sample experimental workflow, for readers to understand the process better.
