The review we highlight today covers the development of sulfonyl- or sulfonamide-based compounds in a vast range of therapeutic applications. Sulfonamides have been widely used as synthetic agents for the anticipation and treatment of bacterial infections.  The characteristics of S(VI)-containing species such as resistance to hydrolysis, insusceptibility to reduction at sulfur, and strong inclination towards two-electron processes rather than radical processes, have already made this group applicable to many productive fields.
